This Bottle Tree grows along the Burnett highway in Central Queensland, Australia.
Every time we travel that way, I take more reference photos. It's quite interesting to see the changes in the same tree over many years and in different seasons. Its' growth has obviously been moulded by the wind.
Between Monto and Biloela in Central Queensland, Australia; there is an area where some beautiful bottle trees grow on the rolling hills and I am always ready with the camera to capture more reference photos.
One of my favourite subjects!
I love the Australian bush as I spent a lot of my childhood visiting the Great Otway National Park in South Western Victoria.
Just stand still and breathe in the fresh air found in the bush.
I never tire of exploring beautiful scenes like this or of drawing and painting them to bring the magic of the bush inside the home. This painting was inspired by a beautiful spot in the Burnett region. of Queensland.
A bush scene from the beautiful Burnett region in Queensland, Australia; focusing on just how majestic the Xanthorrhoea australis can grow.
Every dawn offers a promise of what this new day will bring and what we can make of this new day.
We should feel blessed with every new day! Early morning has always been my favourite time of day and although having seen many, many sunrises; I still marvel at this special time of seeing the sun peeping up over the horizon to light up the landscape. The changing light creates colour, shadow and atmosphere changes as the day becomes alive! This particular scene is the destination of my morning walk and I can't think of a better way to start the day!
The promise of a new day is always something to be thankful for.
Every day from my back door I am greeted with beautiful mornings offering promises for the day. This time of peace is something to behold and value before the bustle & hustle of the day gets underway. I have always known that dawn is the best time of day and I am thankful to be part of this new beginning.
Can you feel the evening air as these wispy clouds are feathered across the sky just before sunset?
No two evenings are the same. Every evening offers a different array of colour across the sky and it compels me to capture the beauty of mother nature as the day slips away into darkness.
Forever on the lookout for scenes to paint; I was travelling home to Rockhampton as a passenger in the late afternoon and I saw these beautiful light rays. Of course I had to capture it with lots of photos and then produced this painting. The essence of light! Nature at it's best!
This is a different perspective of the Moura Golf Course. Such a pretty course resting on the banks of the Dawson River in Central Queensland. The time was just perfect to capture the failing evening light filtering through the trees and across the tranquil water, with the coolness of the approaching evening air on the golf course beyond. Peace and serenity.

The Great Otway National Park in South Western Victoria. A very special place full of fond memories. I have enjoyed the drive through Turtons' Track as a child and also an adult. Smell the eucalyptus, the freshness, feel the dampness and hear the silence only broken by bird calls and cicadas. This place is still as beautiful as it was fifty years ago.
The tall timber in the Great Otway National Park truly is magnificent. Growing straight and strong from the rainforest floor, reaching all the way up to the sky! Standing below, one feels dwarfed by the stature of these trees that create a canopy so far above. Of course the undergrowth is thick with all sorts of plants from tiny orchids to wonderful tree ferns and the wildlife is abundant. These paintings may be enjoyed alone or together as a diptych.

It was through my father I developed a love of The Otways in South Western Victoria. I grew up not far from there and have fond memories of family times spent in 'the bush' whether it be picnics or just drives. I love the tall timber, ferns, smell of eucalypt and fresh air.
Bracken grows thick and quite tall in the Otways and this is one of a series of four. I have always loved black and white with a highlight of colour and this is graphite with coloured pencil.
